I wanted to share this story with you in case it helps any of you out there.

I’ve been working on some pretty big projects lately and as soon as I opened my eyes all kinds of negative thoughts crept in.

Before I knew it I felt like there was a weight on my chest.

It was a total bummer way to start the day especially because I have a ton to do.

I decided I was going to do everything I know how to do in order to fix it.

I’m a big fan of “throw everything at it” when it comes to my mental health and it usually serves me pretty well.

If you’re struggling I suggest you try a little bit of everything and take note of the things that help you shift your energy, mood or mindset a little bit.

You would be surprised how much small shifts add up throughout the day and overtime.

If you’re able to call in positive feelings even just for a few moments throughout the day you’re giving your brain a dose of good chemicals that can have an impact on the way you feel over time.

I always think about this as going to the emotional gym and I’m always trying to build up my happiness muscles by recalling favorite memories or thinking about something positive.

Different things work for different people but here are the things I did to shift my negative troll thoughts this morning.

I know this looks like a lot but a lot of these only took a couple of minutes each.

  • Stretch
  • Journal
  • Meditate
  • Write affirmations
  • Rearrange my schedule
  • Take a walk with my dog
  • Think of everything I have to be thankful for
  • Energetically “blow up” the bad feeling in my chest (I made a video about this you can watch on my YouTube channel)
  • Send love to all of my loved ones
  • Reframe my negative thoughts and tell my brain a new truth I want to believe instead
